Trilix is celebrating a significant milestone this February: our 20th year in business. As we toast to a successful 20 years, we reflect on the expansion of our agency since its founding.
In 2004, Trilix was created with the merger of Direct Advantage, Inc. and one of Des Moines’ long-standing advertising agencies, Porter & Associates.
Several of the original employees are still at Trilix, including Brett Adams, president and chief marketing officer.
“I’m most proud of the great culture we’ve been able to maintain as our agency has grown from a handful of employees to almost 60 professionals. The relationships we’ve built with clients are also very fulfilling, as are the services we now offer to support and advance their storytelling efforts. So much has changed over the past 20 years; it’s all made us stronger as an agency.”

Some of our earliest clients are also still with Trilix 20 years later. We’re incredibly thankful for all our clients, including those who’ve stuck with us for the long haul.
In addition to earning more work with our established clients, we’ve also expanded our client list across a variety of industries and the United States.
“We’re less confined by geography than we were 20 years ago,” said Brett. “While many of our clients are still based in Iowa, we’ve been fortunate to serve clients across the country.”
Marketing has evolved over the last two decades, and so have our services. Trilix has become a full-service marketing agency specializing in account and project management, media buying, branding and creative design, web development and interactive design, video and audio, and public relations and digital communications. Our growth allows us to continue to move brands forward.
Just last year, the company settled in its fourth location by moving into the historic Crescent Building to accommodate its growing staff and services.
We also debuted Trilix Studio, which houses our video and audio offerings in a state-of-the-art creative production facility, right downstairs from our main office. The studio features both classic analog and the latest digital technologies, a hybrid of old and new only found at studios in a few major cities across the country.
“Making it to this milestone can be attributed to two things — having talented and dedicated team members who excel in the work they do and clients who place their trust in us to share their story. I am lucky to get to work with them every day. I am also grateful for the contributions of those who have passed through here the last two decades. We would not be here without them.”
