Jesse Son, a video editor with Trilix Studio, sees each project as an opportunity to deliver an impactful message and interact with people in a new way. With a goal of creating high-quality productions for each client, he often recalls his childhood experiences growing up in South Korea to contribute to a creative viewpoint and approach.
What is your professional background?
I graduated from Iowa State University in 2021, majoring in advertising and minoring in business. I have always loved watching movies or documentaries, which led me to being a freelance videography and photographer. Before having my own productions, I worked as an instructor and assistant manager at a martial arts school. I’ve also served as a media coordinator for some area nonprofits before coming to Trilix.
Have you always lived in Iowa?
My family is back in my home country of South Korea. I moved to Iowa in 2011 by myself, so it’s been about 11 years. Time really flies. I never thought I would be staying in Iowa or the U.S. for this long, but I really like it.
If you could do any other kind of work, what would it be?
I have always admired those who play instruments. If I could, I would love to be a pianist or violinist.
