Caleb Pike is an award-winning interactive designer who designs and develops the front end of websites; in other words, the part of websites that human users interact with. Caleb understands that websites are so much more than pretty pictures — they’re experiences. And his passion is to create websites that give visitors user-friendly (user-delighting!) experiences, which inevitably translates into clients’ goals being met.
What is your professional background?
I went to school for graphic design and worked as a designer for several years, mainly designing vehicle graphics and signage. Those skills grew into leadership positions in production at a few grand format printing companies in Des Moines. Eventually, I decided to take up web development. I went back to school to learn a new skill and was able to land my first job at another marketing agency. I worked there for nearly five years before I joined the team at Trilix.
What motivates you at work?
I enjoy building things, so building websites and solving problems is a good motivator. Also, being part of a team and making sure I come through for them drives me to do my best.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or unique talents?
I am a serial hobbyist. I love trying new things and completely immersing myself in whatever that is. I’ve done everything from beer-making to Ironman triathlons and bodybuilding. Currently my hobby interests are pottery and photography. I’ve been doing photography for close to 20 years and shoot a lot of live music. I also enjoy shooting portraits and anything else that might make a nice image. I picked up pottery during the pandemic after I placed a pottery wheel and a kiln in my garage.
